Mohamed Salah was crowned the English Premier League top scorer, jointly with South Korean Heung Min Son, with 23 goals each. At the international level, Mohamed Salah led Egypt to the final of the African Nations Cup (Cameroon 2022), before losing on penalties to Senegal. In a repeated scenario, Egypt failed to qualify for the World Cup Finals (Qatar 2022) by also losing on penalties to Senegal. Mohamed Fadl, a former member of the Egyptian Football Association, had demanded to honor Mohamed Salah, because he is the "inspirer" of the Egyptian youth. Fadl wrote on his Instagram account, “Today, Salah achieves more and more, not only achieving individual championships and achievements, but also contributing to raising the ambition of young people, not only the Egyptian, but the youth of the whole world.” And Fadl continued, "Salah is a legend and the story of a natural, successful and exceptional Egyptian young man. He is the inspirer. They honored Mohamed Salah and respected him in front of the world. He is the best representative of our great country, and I hope the honor will be on a very high level because he deserves it." In the same context, Faraj Amer, the former president of Smouha, wrote, through his account on Facebook, "I wish a special reception for Mohamed Salah when he arrives for his annual vacation." And Faraj Amer continued, "It is necessary to make an honor worthy of Mohamed Salah, and to give his name to an important place in Egypt that is commensurate with his global standing." It is noteworthy that the Egyptian national team is currently preparing, under the leadership of coach Ihab Galal, for the first two rounds of the African Nations Cup qualifiers (Cote d'Ivoire 2023), against Guinea and Ethiopia.
